چکیده

2014 If a (d 2014 1)-dimensional surface of a d-dimensional semi-infinite medium has a concentration pS different from the bulk concentration pB one may imagine that percolation is possible even if both pB and pS are below the dand (d 2014 1)-dimensional threshold, respectively. We give simple arguments, partly confirmed by Monte Carlo experiment, why this effect occurs for d = 3 but not for d = 2. We also discuss the case of a defect line immersed in a three-dimensional medium. J. Physique LETTRES 42 (1981) L-249 L-2:,2 Classification Physics Abstracts 05.50 15 JUIN 1981,

Measurement of Vertical Water Percolation Through Different Soil Textures of Paddy Field During Rice Growth Season

The water percolation loss beyond root zone in the soil is one of the important parameters to determine water requirement of rice plant. If the amount of water percolation rate into the soil is estimated more carefully, determination of water requirement will be evaluated better and designing for system of irrigation, drainage and related establishments will be more easily done. The purpose of ...

Percolation model of interfacial effects in polymeric glasses

Recent observations using fluorophore probes of local dynamics in polymer films have provided new insight into the glass transition. Using a percolation model, we predict the local Tg in a polymer film, as a function of distance from a substrate or a free surface. Our predictions are in good agreement with the observed elevation of Tg near a substrate, whereas the observed reduction of Tg near ...

ARVO: A Fortran package for computing the solvent accessible surface area and the excluded volume of overlapping spheres via analytic equations

In calculating the solvation energy of proteins, the hydration effects, drug binding, molecular docking, etc., it is important to have an efficient and exact algorithms for computing the solvent accessible surface area and the excluded volume of macromolecules. Here we present a Fortran package based on the new exact analytical methods for computing volume and surface area of overlapping sphere...

Effects of surfaces on resistor percolation.

We study the effects of surfaces on resistor percolation at the instance of a semi-infinite geometry. Particularly we are interested in the average resistance between two connected ports located on the surface. Based on general grounds as symmetries and relevance we introduce a field theoretic Hamiltonian for semi-infinite random resistor networks. We show that the surface contributes to the av...
